As a longstanding 100% virtual company, working from the safety of our homes is something we are used to but not something all of you are familiar with. In our Remote Work Roundtable, we offered some advice on how to stay productive and positive while working from home. A few of our team members from client services, operations, and leadership shared their experiences at this webinar and answered questions. How do you remain productive?
Ryan Vong, Digital Pi CEO – I start the day as if I’m really going to work. I shower, make coffee, get dressed and start the day just the same as if I were going to an office. It’s really helped me feel a bit of distance between home and office.
How does the culture continue/ work virtually?
Vivi Gehan, VP of Operations – We like to talk as if we’re together! We have an extensive list of Slack channels from recipes and pets to a water-cooler that’s true to form and our company catch-all. Some of our teams even host virtual work sessions where they literally sit on Zoom and get their individual work done, together! We also celebrate together, when we hit a milestone like the Inc. 5000 award we rally together virtually to make fun videos or, during this strange time, we have done some Kids calls!
What works best for you?
George Aluculesei, Director of Client Services – I take a nap every day! Just a power nap between calls, but every day. I also walk around my house and recommend that everyone switch up between a stand-up desk and a sit-down desk. While my gym is closed, I’ve been utilizing a little home gym. And, I have a huge green screen behind me so I can hide my clutter on video calls.
How do you tell your dog to stop barking during calls?
Jess Kao, Director of Client Services – We try our best to cut out distractions before client calls. I dial in, even if I am doing webcam, to make sure that if something happens with my internet/ video that my voice is uninterrupted and calls continue on.
